Matthew Marks
Sr. Sustainability Specialist President, Sustainability Strategy, Americas SABIC
Matt Marks joined the Americas Sustainability team as Sr. Sustainability Specialist reporting to Sr. Manager Sustainability Strategy, Americas. He is responsible for key strategic initiatives in the areas of Circular Economy, Climate Change, Advocacy and others.
Matt has held various roles within SABIC, from technical, marketing and commercial leadership roles to regulatory affairs. His experience, spanning 27 years, includes working with various industry stakeholders to foster cooperation across the value chain and with the regulatory community to promote and deliver the benefits of plastics and polymer composites in automotive applications.
In his most recent role with SABIC, Matt led the Automotive Market Development and Technical Service team in North and South America. Under Matt’s leadership, his team worked closely with customers and development partners troubleshooting technical issues and developing new applications and product solutions.
He is chair emeritus of the Automotive team within the Plastics Division of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) and looks to continue his industry engagement with the other ACC teams focused on sustainability.
Matt earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University. Additionally he has published and presented at multiple industry conferences and published over 15 patents.
Keynote Address: “Planning for the Plant of the Future”
The presentation will discuss global trends, technology leadership, sustainability (including circular economy, carbon neutrality, electrification, renewable energy, etc.) and its influence on current and future business, considerations for future assets, the impact on human capital, and the importance of collaboration.
